Meet Our Team At Seaside Dental
Dr. Sonja Baur,
General Dentist, Owner
Sonja grew up on a dairy farm and later a beef ranch near Quesnel, BC. She completed her undergraduate degree at UBC in Microbiology and Immunology, and continued on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2005. After graduation, Sonja worked in Edmonton for three years and then moved to Whitehorse, Yukon to work at an excellent dental clinic that expanded her knowledge while she got a taste of the unique northern life. Sonja also spent time working for the Yukon government in their children’s program and has volunteered for people in need in exotic places such as Guatemala, Peru, Nepal, and Cambodia. Although nine years in the Yukon provided her with great experience and adventures, she longed to be closer to her family, prompting the move to Vancouver Island last summer. Sonja’s passions are travelling, reading, hiking, and running to keep fit.
Dr. Geoff Newhouse,
General Dentist, Owner
Geoff grew up in Kamloops, BC and attended UBC to first complete his Bachelor of Commerce Degree with honours in 2001 and then carried on to graduate from the Faculty of Dentistry in 2005. Geoff also practiced in Edmonton, then Whitehorse with Sonja.
Geoff has taken many continuing education courses and participated in advanced training in implant surgery and endodontics. Geoff has a serious passion for wildlife photography which has taken him to such exotic places as Ecuador, Costa Rica, Borneo, and Antarctica. He has even won a Nature’s Best Photography award for his images. When not on a photographic expedition, Geoff enjoys skiing, kayaking, and hiking.
TINA,
Registered Dental Hygienist
Tina grew up in Sudbury Ontario and graduated from Dental Hygiene at St. Clair College in 2004. She moved directly to Vancouver Island after board exams and has worked on the island as a RDH ever since. She is passionate about her family and her career, therefore, trust, respect and kindness are priorities in the care she gives her family and her patients.

Lana,
Certified Dental Assistant
Lana was born and raised in Calgary and moved to the Island in 1993, where she changed careers from a dietary technologist to dental assistant.
Now with over 20 years of experience in this rewarding field, 13 of those years at Seaside Dental, she is excited about having many more years ahead. And she continues seeing our loyal patients and works alongside such a positive and encouraging team!
Lana is dedicated to staying fit and active; she likes outdoor activities including running, skiing and hiking. She enjoys travelling and eating tasty food and wine of course.
Bonnie,
Front Office Administrator
Bonnie moved from Manitoba to Victoria in 1987 and adapted to island life quickly making many friends. She has lived in several different districts surrounding Victoria from Sooke to Cook Street Village, but finally settled down in the Saanich Peninsula where she began to raise her family. Over the past 15 years while raising her kids, she took on part-time positions in customer service and eventually landed herself in the dental industry doing reception and scheduling appointments. This was a welcome learning atmosphere as she has always had a strong interest in all fields of healthcare, dentistry is no exception. She has enjoyed learning about dentistry while meeting and greeting families in the surrounding area and always loves it when a familiar face walks in the door. Her other hobbies and interests are wildlife and all of the arts.
Lisa,
Certified Dental Assistant
Lisa was born in Victoria and raised on the Saanich Peninsula where she continues to live. She is a graduate of the Dental Assisting program at Camosun College and recently celebrated twenty years with Seaside Dental. Working with people of all ages is very satisfying to Lisa, and she enjoys learning new techniques and procedures related to dentistry. A few of Lisa's hobbies include hiking with her husband and their two dogs, gardening, cooking, and traveling to warm climates.
